This reel would, of course, be just fine as a casting tool, but with a 4.3:1 retrieve, its better suited to mechanical jigging (and deepwater bottom fishing this combo would be dynamite on puka), rather than casting and retrieving lures

Introducing a "back-shot" (see diagram below) is also a great way to combat surface chop on the water during windy conditions

If the wind allows, you can even cast the lure and then let the drifting of your boat to pull the bait for you just remember to check the line for a fish every now and then or you may miss a big bite
